Happy 7th Birthday Mia!

I am not sure what happened to the photos from her second birthday. I know we did not have a cake, we went to Petite Martinique on a boat that day.  Took her along. I was so scared that she would get sea sick.

We celebrated mostly last night. Nate and I took her on a date. She was so excited. She wanted Applebees, hot wings, kids hamburgers, and an Oreo milkshake.
After that she had some of her own money, a gift card that came from Toys R Us (if you sign your kids up they get them in the mail for their birthday. $3 so not huge) and some birthday money to spend.
She was tempted to let all of her birthday money at home in her piggy bank. I told her she has to take it along, she does not have to spend it. I was bracing myself for a two hour stroll at Toys R Us.

She saw this doll and it was all over. She's not much of a dolly girl so it was rather a shocker. She named her Alecia. Spelling due to change. Even the name could change. Mia has been known to name cats and then change the cats name the next morning.

Ellie's Birthday Party at the Cabin

I've been finding it pretty tough to properly celebrate Lizzy's birthday over the years. August is always such a busy time. I think we moved the day before her birthday last year. Anyhow... we took her birthday party along to the cabin this past weekend and celebrated a week early. I don't think she minded.
Some ideas I was saving.
Did not all happen.  I was finishing up the pinata the day we left for the cabin.  The owl never got wings or feet. The cake never got polka dots.  I don't think she minded. I said that before.
Putting beads on the bubble wands.

It was a rainy afternoon.  So we made our bubble wands and blew bubbles on the porch.

Hoping it holds up for a few swings.  The homemade ones are always stronger than you think they will be.

If you hate to watch children grabbing for candy... divvy it out before you put it in the pinata.
Now that we gave all of your children bags of candy, we will hype them up with cake and red dye number 9.

Making the cake.

How old will Ellie be?

Birthdays

This morning when I should have been at the grocery store I was sewing a dress for Ellie to match Mia's birthday dress.  (If I don't sew one for Ellie right away, it never gets done and she ends up w/ fewer dresses by Mom, poor second child) Then, when Mia saw Ellie's dress that was almost like hers she noticed that Ellie's had pockets and said, "Why doesn't mine have pockets?" So when I should have been eating lunch with my darlings I was sewing pockets on Mia's birthday dress.  Finish pockets, pick up many many noodles off of kitchen floor and baby, out the door to the bus stop.  Lighting is all wrong for a few pics of Mia. Bus comes, then we go to the grocery store.  Meet an old long lost friend and we catch up in the aisle for a few minutes and I wonder why I didn't do a better job of keeping contact w/ long lost friends, pick out $10 dollars worth of gummies, black licorice, jelly beans, etc. to decorate Mia's cake with.  Realize on the way home that buying a cake would not have cost anymore than all that candy did. Put Lizzy and Stu Bops to bed, hope that one hour is enough for them (it is not).  Put one candy from each container onto Mia's cake.  Wonder how they got the licorice to stick to the coconut in the picture that I'm looking at? Now, wrap Mia's gifts. The wrapping paper just so holds out. Ah! Half and hour goes by and Ellie is still not sleeping. Load cupcakes and stuff in van for Mia' class.  Wonder if I could make it to her school faster than I think? Would be nice to let them sleep longer. Now we are up to present time.  I am not sure how much birthday I can handle.  And I'm not even throwing a party. Although she has invited various people to "her party".  One more thing before I'm outta here... if she asked you if you got her a birthday present or card? I'm so sorry.  We're working on it.
