Covered Goods. I sewed up a cover of my own and I love it. It is not warm and stuffy but keeps the sun out of baby Henry's eyes.
A friend of mine bought a real one and she said that the fabric was fantastic quality. Mine did struggle to snap back into place after I stretched good like this. I think a slightly thicker fabric would have recovered better. They can also be used as nursing covers and grocery cart covers. And you can wear it like an infinity scarf. I was getting pretty tempted to buy a real one but alas, the summer sun in the eyes is about over isn't it.
Zaycon Fresh. My freezer is full of their chicken and I just ordered some sausage and salmon so I am hoping I love it as much as the chicken. If you need to stock your freezer with meat look them up and see if they have drop offs in your area.
Swim Pack. I picked up one of these swim packs early this spring at a consignment sale. We did not manage to go swimming very often this summer but Stuart wore this and each time we took another layer off. Two weeks ago he was brave enough to get in the pool at swimming lessons with out any pack on and he did great. I feel like he was able to learn to swim with that pack.
White Pizza with tomato and basil on my side. Brush pizza crust with olive oil and maybe some garlic, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and then add tomato and basil. bake on stone in an oven as hot as you trust your stone getting for 5-8 min. This is hands down my favorite.
Parchment paper. Just started to love baking on parchment paper. I know, why now? Pizza and whoopie pies are just so much easier on parchment paper.
Olive keeps talking about "Happy Cake" as we are drumming her birthday up, showing her home video's from her siblings birthdays.
Bit the driveway last night, riding bike.
At the local small town lawn mower tractor pull a few weeks ago, Martin Appliance had a dressed up mascot walking around... he looked like a chef or something and Stuart said, "Hey, there is a fellow!"
Stuart is supposed to be learning Kindergarten stuff from me at home this year and I was surprised when we sat down to do his first workbook, he did not know how to hold his pencil, color, etc. I spent the next half hour trying to decide if I could swing the Kindergarten schedule and maybe I should reconsider. Blessings to all Kindergarten and first grade teachers!
Henry is rolling and cooing and being sweet.
The best part about making Low Country Boil for my meal at the cabin is that it is easy. The second best part is the soup that you can make with the leftovers. I just add a white sauce base like you do for broccoli soup and some garlic and lots of old bay seasoning.
My porch this morning.
Good food good family great memories!:) Christina
