Calling For Kitchen Aid

One problem we have run into is my Kitchen Aid Mixer.  It is big and it does not fit under the cabinets on the counter.  Not a single spot where it will fit.  And it is a heavy beast of a mixer that would not be much fun to hoist up and down.  I am not in the mood to get a smaller one either.  As I really do love mine. I did have a Bosch but I left it in Grenada. And I've got to say, I like the kitchen aid more than the Bosch.  Just saying. On to the dilemma.

See that green oven? It's going to go and we need to get the cabinet guy to make something out of that space...  what if we stuck the mixer in there?  and had a pull out shelf below it to keep baking stuff on like measuring cups, spoons, and some spatulas. It would also be a work space to measure stuff.  Then have our fridge open opposite of the way Grandma's did to make it easier to grab the milk and eggs.  Keep my flour and sugar in the left side of the pantry which is on the left of this picture.  How annoying would this be? Do you foresee this being good or bad?

If your husband happens to design kitchens... your opinion matters most!

Grandma's Sale

New Bedroom

Goodbye nice trim. I loved you.

We are moving to N Willow St. We are excited and tired.  So much to do.  So many things to paint white.  The list is so lengthy.  It keeps me up at night.  Stuart gets me up and my brain keeps me up. I lay there wondering if I should paint my piano white or not.
This piano.

This coffee table, and matching end tables. Paint them white? They do match the piano. I need to know what I'm doing here because when that piano gets rolled into place I don't want to be the one asking Nate to roll it into the garage a few months later. Piano's are not on his list of fun things to move.  Chances are once it's in place it'll stay that way.  At least for a very long time.

More painting.

Ted and Ryan comparing how many Happy Hollister Books they walked away with.
I have to admit that at this point I was too nervous about the real estate selling soon to care about books.

Took some JR SR Banquet(Prom) pics after the sale.  I pretty much drool over old cars like this.  Was fun.

Dreams

I wish I would have devoted more time to music when I hear someone that's really good on the guitar or piano.  I just text Nate to say, "I wish we played the guitar together" neither of us play.  We have a guitar though...

You ever have that panic feeling... when life just seems too short.  So many things to try to be good at and I often feel like I'm not actually that good at anything.

I was such a perfectionist as a child.  One day my Mom had my cousins and I painting t shirts with glitter paint.  I goofed mine up and Mom fixed it so well.  Just put another leaf there to cover up the mistake and I remember crying bitter bitter tears while my cousins tried to tell me it was fine.

I am now a master "cover it up with another leaf" kind of person.  I make do a lot.  I can be happier with less.  But still I struggle.  Wonder why I can't get it all done and do better at what I do.

For Mia's birthday she got this little kitten that sits in a basket with a pillow.  It is from her grandma.  Apparently she was asking for a cat. Or a trampoline, or a swimming pool.  So when I saw this I was sure it was so going to all get lost in the bottom of the toy box.  But my dear Lizzy.  She carries it around all the time.  Two months later.  She covers it up with a blanket and talks to it.  She just loves animals.  Especially fake ones.  The other day I heard her outside talking to a baby rabbit ??? was there one there I'm not sure.  But she was saying, "baby rabbit I"m over here, do you want to let me hold you?" She always says to wild animals, "I'm over here" like they should just hop over to her.
I'm not a huge cat fan.

Tomorrow is my Grandma's estate sale.

Last night at church. Ellie pinched her finger in the door. I saw it happening but could not get there fast enough. Hard to watch stuff like that happen.  It's a little bit purple. Could have been worse.

Amber and Dave's Wedding

Amber and Dave woke up to a beautiful morning. It rained on both of their parents wedding days... so I guess they were happy to see a sunshiny day.  Everyone is.

My Ramona

Here is my Ramona Quimby

Last night she had a sink full of water, toothpaste, electric toothbrush (will it ever run again?), oh and lots of qtips.

While hanging up my wash in the backyard I came upon this very muddy bear.  Oh how she loves to get wet and dirty.

Nate took our Ramona with him while running errands last night.  He said she chattered at him the entire time.  Non stop.

"God never denies us our hearts desire except to give us something better."

Read that this week and tried to just absorb it.  I know it to be true so why do I lose sleep at night?  Ah.
We have been scraping and priming and painting full speed ahead here.  This old house!  The porch roof is about to be painted.
In the home making department I made my own yogurt for the first time and we love it. Thanks to Thelma for her recipe and inspiration.  You've got to read her blog.
If you're in the mood for something tart.  Make this lemon pie this weekend.  It is seriously good.  I put mine in a graham crust.  My Dad would have been proud.  (he hates pie crust and watermelon... the only two things I can think of right now on his do not like list)

Lemon Cream Pie (MADE blog)

 Combine:
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Add:
1/4 cup melted butter
1 Tbsp. lemon rind
1 cup milk
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (aprox 2 lemons)
3 egg yolks slightly beaten
Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Cool.
Stir in 1 cup sour cream and spoon into a baked, cooled pie crust. Cover the top with whipped cream or cool whip. Chill till ready to serve.
