I've Been Using The Same Christmas Wrapping Paper For Years...and this is why
One year when I was teaching school, I bought the guys soccer balls for Christmas. I am thinking it was like 8 of them or maybe 12. I knew that wrapping them was going to be a nightmare. I was at Bon Ton buying other things like a purse or gloves or something fun that you can buy for yourself when you are single. Shopping was different in those days. By the register there was a display of Christmas wrapping paper. I thought it was a good deal. Something like 3.99 for a pack of 3. Or so I thought. They were in packages of three. And in each package I really liked 2 out of the 3 papers. After all these years I am still thinking about blushing as I tell this tale. I'm going to say I bought like 6 or 7 or I don't know maybe 8 packs of 3. I seriously thought the soccer balls would use up all of this wrapping paper. I wonder what I got the girls that year. Thing is they charged me $3.99 per roll and I was too inferior to say, "Hold it! I do not want this wrapping paper" like I would now. You do the math, this was a lot of cash for a school teacher, probably more than I spent on the presents. I still suffer every year when Nate informs me, "We do NOT need Christmas wrapping paper" He has seen the stash in the attic. And I suffer as I wrap my children's presents in those ugly rolls of wrapping paper that are left. Even the ones that were pretty, would no longer be pretty to me. One of these years we can get some pretty paper. I can't wait!

Feet
Stuart has long fingers and toes. Toes like his Uncle Tristan and his Great Grandpa Amos. He is in the fifteenth percentile for everything except his length, 75%.
He is doing great these days. Very content. Also sleeping so nice and long at night. Nate's Mom wondered if I get up to check on him.
He gets lots of kisses. We feel so blessed.

Today is the first day of getting back to normal. Nate went to work and the girls are home again. It's a good feeling.
Ellie is enormous... I'm sure she gained 5 lbs while she was gone. She seems more grown up. Also a bit sassier.
Mia begs to hold Stuart all the time and is frequently heard saying, "I love him SO MUCH" or "He is so cute, isn't he cute?"
Stuart is doing fine, he does keep us up for a few hours each night. Either it is getting better or we are getting used to it, I'm not sure exactly. Those night hours tend to blend together. Do not underestimate the power of a good comfy rocker in your nursery!

It's Saturday

Wouldn't a Friday be a nice day to have a baby? Or a Thursday evening for that matter? Oh, how I wish. How I wish. Do not ask me when I am due as that is so tricky to explain, but it would not be fair to complain about being overdue without actually mentioning when it really is supposed to all happen. I was due the 16th until my midwife mentioned she has me down for the 10th. I brushed it off and later ran the calculations myself and um... the 7th. But really, none of this means anything as the baby will come when it is time. Or so it has been said. I for one am terrified that I will be pregnant forever. What if?

A Smile & Rug Burn
Last nights blogging got cut a little short due to the Phillies game. We ended up going to bed early anyhow and I had Nate asking me at 2AM this morning "Did the Phillies lose?" He can ask me these things because I don't sleep the whole night through and catch up on stuff like that at 2AM.
Ellie took a terrible fall down the steps last week. Thus the rug burn under her nose. Ouch.
Last night we went swimming! Indoor pool that our neighbors put in. Very fun family outing for these cold days. Well, until you go to leave and it's cold outside. That is rather strange. We told them we would be out by 8:30... imagine our surprise when we left and realized it was only 7:30... The clock in the pool room is still set wrong. Something like that can make you feel so out of touch with reality.
Notice the paint on their legs. They were happy to get into Grandma's paint again yesterday!

The Only Tree She Can Climb
Today I learned how to meter. I've tried so many times to understand this, and today it clicked. Whew. And now it seems so silly that I did not understand this before.
Monday my Mom, Dorcas, and I took in a photoshop seminar in Philly. We use it a lot at work. Mom and I. Ate yummy cheeseteaks from Reading Terminal Market.

Rachel Brown Came To Town
Rachel Brown. Was so good to see her again. She lived in the basement of the house we stayed in, in Grenada. We shared a washing machine and a phone line for three years. Good times. She is currently at SMBI for a term and then heads back to Grenada to finish out the school year there.

Applesauce
Canning and Freezing with my Mom... we might not start till 3 in the afternoon. To me, this is life.... it makes my friends laugh. They tell me how their Mom's would be started by 7AM. For some reason this works for us. I must say having our husbands stop by on the way home from work to help clean up and eat supper with us, sure is fun!
